The Schtick
Owned by former Detroit Red Wings hockey player Chris Chelios, Cheli’s is a popular hot spot before a game. We think it’s the name that carries the place though, because everything inside is small and a total drag. The restaurant is small, the menu has maybe five items on it, and you’re lucky if there is a waiter in sight. If you manage to find a seat, get an order in and get some grub and a drink, you won’t be that impressed. One would think it couldn’t be that hard to mess up a burger or nachos, but just you wait. When you order your fries, you might want to emphasize that you do not want them dipped in soggy dishwater before they bring them out to you.
Sorry Chris… soon your rep around the D will be as stale as your nachos.
Do's & Don'ts
DO bring earplugs. The music is very loud and you cant hear your conversations.
DO bring TUMS or Imodium for your stomach. If it didn’t hurt before, it will afterwards.
DON’T tip the waiter, they won’t have helped you.
DON’T go.
What's on Tap
Happy Hour: Monday-Friday, 2-6 p.m., Food ½ off appetizers. Drinks $2 domestic draft beer, $1 off mixed drinks.
Get Your Jew On
Chris Chelios is half Jewish. One might see this as a redeeming quality, but it still doesn’t do much for his bar.
