Ronin
Ronin is a great place to dine and enjoy great sushi with your friends, family or co-workers. But better yet, Ronin has a great bar that you’ll want to take full advantage of. There is also a lounge/party room just upstairs that can be used for private events and parties that has its own bar. Ronin usually gathers a more mature/professional crowd (mostly 30’s, some late 20’s). If you’re looking for a great evening of sushi and drinks, this is the spot to go!
O’Tooles
O’Toole’s is not just a place to get hyphy for 20-somethings. The college bar vibe is alive and well, with provocatively dressed waitresses in short plaid skirts, but it is a whole lot more. O’Tooles is complete with a pool table, video games, a spacious outdoor patio, and high definition TVs to watch the game.
Old Shillelagh
This is a no frills, hole-in-the wall bar, where the bartenders will get as drunk if not more drunk than you. Complete with wooden stools and décor, this place is laid back and small. Old Shillelagh is conveniently located near Greektown for an all-around stellar evening. Superior beer selection, and a great patio to drink on.
Cheli’s Chili Bar
Owned by former Detroit Red Wings hockey player Chris Chelios, Cheli’s is a popular hot spot before a game. We think it’s the name that carries the place though, because everything inside is small and a total drag. The restaurant is small, the menu has maybe five items on it, and you’re lucky if there is a waiter in sight. If you manage to find a seat, get an order in and get some grub and a drink, you won’t be that impressed. One would think it couldn’t be that hard to mess up a burger or nachos, but just you wait. When you order your fries, you might want to emphasize that you do not want them dipped in soggy dishwater before they bring them out to you.
Sorry Chris… soon your rep around the D will be as stale as your nachos.
Centaur Bar
Centaur Bar is frequented as a pre-game spot for professional sports, and for it’s club-chic feel. Juxtaposition at its finest. They offer free bus service to all Red Wings home games, and drink specials for Lions games. On the first floor you find slate flooring, ultra-modern chairs, and beautiful natural lighting. The color-scheme of glass and shades of black radiates a smooth, sexy vibe. Follow us upstairs and you’ll find that the second floor is pretty similar, with the exception of the lounge. The lounge is covered in motel-style couches that hug around every bend of the room, and is coated in goofy carpeting…. which is perhaps why the lights are virtually off in the evening.
The Hamilton Room
Private. Exclusive. Members Only.
Welcome to The Hamilton Room. Or really… Welcome to the front door of The Hamilton Room. All men need a membership to get into this special club, and girls get in free after waiting in line.
Once inside, the club is underground. There is a large dance floor and bar, private seating areas that can be reserved for private parties, members or guests, and a back section complete with a second bar, lounge seating and several TV screens.
The general mix of people inside is very mixed. Age is not consistent and you can find people anywhere from 25-50 (the old folks both male and female), and racially heavily Chaldean.
